Se souvenir de Violetta / SHOW

Remembering Violetta

This is the story of a courtesan suffering from tuberculosis who falls in love with a young man. They become lovers and flee society, seeking refuge in the countryside where their romance can blossom undisturbed. But society will not release them so easily, and rapidly they are found and must go their separate ways. Arnold goes to his parents in search of impossible consolation while, Marguerite, unknown to him, dies alone, abandoned

We join the story one week after the death of Marguerite. Armand, wracked with grief, wants to see her one last time. He decides to have her body dug up.

I thought to myself : writing is always bound up with the dead, we write on the corpses left by the world, and on love’s corpse. It is in these interstices of absence that writing plunges us, not to replace anything that has been lived or we suppose has been lived, but to record the desert that remains in its wake

The desire to work with both professional and amateur actors was consolidated on this production and strengthened the company’s sense of its own identity.
